The prestigious Divan Hotel, located in the very heart of Istanbul, where the Turkish hospitality tradition is nurtured across generations is situated on one of the 7 hill summits of Istanbul. A landmark in hospitality, the meticulous Divan service tradition is quite an institution. The Divan Hotel is frequented both by business travellers as well as tourists.
The Divan hotel management have always been visionaries and have built the hotel's reputation on rock-solid, uncompromising quality services to guests. Their objectives are: increasing the room occupancy rate, by low exploitation costs, dynamic services adapting to changing market demands and relentless focus on guest satisfaction.
In achieving these ambitions, the legacy separate networks for data, voice and in-room entertainment have always been a bottle neck, as it was expensive to maintain, inconsistent in management, and inadequate in adapting to changing guest demands. Divan Hotel management radically wanted to improve and increase the services portfolio to its guest by using a converged infrastructure.
The Challenge
Today's hoteliers, like at the Divan Hotel, are faced with increasingly demanding guests, while the hospitality market confronted with uncertainty in the market, a retracting economical climate and fierce competition. On top of that, hoteliers see declining revenue in telephone services as guests increasing make use of their mobile GSM phones.
In order to maintain its reputation as a top-class services hotel as well as attract more, returning business guests and at the same time drastically reduce exploitation costs, Divan management decided for a major overhaul of their network infrastructure.
They realised that only the Nevotek V/IP-suite IP Telephony application for the hospitality market, with Cisco Systems, the world's market leader in Internet technology and Koc.Net, the leading IP Telephony Internet Service Provider in Turkey, would be up to the job.
Divan is the first hotel in Turkey to deploy voice, data, and high-speed Internet on a single services platform. Having accomplished the first phase, the implemented technology offers a glimpse of what guests will take for granted in the years ahead.
